For those of you who are as gaga over their pets as we are (and I know you're out there), here is a Thanksgiving treat for your canine. It's in my oven as I type!! :chick

I buy ground turkey at Costco for $2.29 a pound and keep it in the freezer for my pups. With four Bostons, I make two loaves, which will last a week or so if I mix it with kibble. This stuff smells good enough to feed the family!

Turkey and Sweet Potato Savory Loaf (compliments of Animal Wellness Magazine)

1 pound ground turkey
1 cup shredded yams
1 egg, lightly beaten
1/2 cup fresh parsley, chopped
1/3 cup fresh cranberries, finely chopped
1 clove garlic, finely minced or grated
1 tsp sea salt (optional)
1 cup chicken or vegetable stock.

Heat oven to 350. Lightly grease a loaf pan and line with shredded sweet potatoes. Lightly sprinkle minced garlic on top. Add 1/2 cup stock. Pour lightly beaten egg on top. Sprinkle 1/4 cup of parsley over then add 1/4 cup of cranberries. Distribute ground turkey over all. Add the remaining stock, sprinkle with salt if desired. Add remaining parsley and cranberries and press down gently with spatula to flatten. Bake at 350 for 1 hour. Let it cool completely before slicing and serving. Yum!
