FIRE CRACKERS
1 box saltine crackers (the 4 pack size)
1½ cups Canola oil (Do Not Substitute a different kind of oil)
1 package Ranch dressing mix (the powder kind)
2 Tablespoons crushed red pepper flakes (or less if you want it less spicy, I personally don't care for spicy food, but I could not keep my hand out of the cracker jar! :drool WARNING: These are addicting and will go fast!)
Mix together the oil, ranch and pepper
Place crackers in a large container, pour oil mixture over and turn/toss to coat the crackers. Turn/toss crackers every 30 minutes for 2 hours at which time the oil should be absorbed.
I learned from experience, that a flat bottomed container works best as the oil tends to pool in the bottom of one with slanted sides and doesn’t get absorbed as well. You will need a rectangle plastic container with a lid that is approximately 10" w X 14" long X 4" deep. I found the perfect container in the plastic storage box section of Wal-Mart.
Enjoy!
