Hi everyone,,,

This is not really a "class", but thought I would put it here.

I needed a hat to match my dress for my MIL's friend to wear.

So here goes.

Old straw hat I have had for years and years. Have worn it everywhere, the beach, yard, and yes even CAS!!

Pushed down the top and sewed it together to hold the shape.

Then added gathered lace around the top and made a lace flower.

Thanks, TL.

I always like to see "why didn't I think of that?" ideas.

Added some roses and ribbon, and some feathers, and came out pretty good.

And the dress its for.

Looks just great! I remake my hats when they start wilting or looking worn, recycling is a GOOD thing!

Too cool! I did a "remodel" on a straw hat when I made the Rebel Yell CanCan outfit. I guess we are finally starting to get the hang of all this eco-system recycling thing, huh?:rofl

Tatted Lady, Is that the same dress you wore to The Last Stand? I remember it being beautiful. The hat will make it even more wonderful. Hmm, I have a straw hat I'm not thrilled with, I might try this on it. Thank you for a great idea!

MOY, yes it is. Thanks for all the coments, and yes you can post other things I could do to it.

I won't be mad!! Any help is wanted.

It really is a day dress, so I needed a hat.

I purchased the feather from Sassy Teton Lady at "The Last Stand".

One day I will make a hat (from scratch), when I have some time.

I don't have a business, but my sewing room is closed to all family and friends until I get caught up on everything I want and need to sew for myself.

Sound familiar!!!

TL

PS... I forgot to tell you, that my MIL (90) and her friend (86) are doing a fashion show of clothes their mother and grandmother might have worn. They were so excited to try on my clothes. Just like kids in a candy store.

They picked out tatted gloves and purses, hats everything. One is even going to wear my corset. I told her (whisper mode on), it will put your boobs where they used to be!! I'll bet they're still laughing. I just hope she doesn't want to keep it!!! Pics after Sunday.

Can't wait to show pic of them. They are so excited

Hi TL,

Who would have thought that "ugly duckling" would be a swan some day. Congratulations on the recycling! It is a perfect sunny day hat.

Oh my gosh TL, that reminds me of when my MIL (84) came over in June and tried on my costumes. She plans to borrow them for a church history day and a cruise. I think she had a blast trying on things and posing for the camera.

BTW, I love that gold and black costume! WOW!
