Hi,
On another thread, I mentioned that I had a method of sewing bustle tapes that makes ironing easy.
The example I am posting is the TV polonaise. When the snaps are loose, the only hinderance to pressing are the side pleats.
I sew snaps and tapes at the waist. The garment is very sturdy there and can handle the pressure.
The outside tapes are pretty straightforward as they just loop through one ring and back to the waist. The middle tape loops up through one ring before going to the bottom ring, where it loops back to the waist.
As this is an unlined hot-weather dress, I sewed pellon under the loops for added support.
I hope you find this helpful.
Happy :sewing
The first photo is the inside and outside as it looks unbustled.
