Question ... did women still have to wear their corset when wearing the bathing suit?

intresting question... I would think the fastest way to rust steel (yes I know whale bone...but steel as well) would be to expose it to sea water?

They also had foundation pieces they were close to the body and ohhh whats the word? Cording! that had cording and were not boned. So perhaps that was more a bathing undergarment?

You know I have never thought about it, I imagine they wore SOME sort of foundation? I know that bathing was a sorta go in and splash around for women...no swimming the English chanel type atheletics. I have heard that in the early years ( 1860-70) that women could drown from the weight of the suit because it was so voluminus if they got in too deep...I think it was more often then not a playing in the shallows pass time. Anywhooo I know there would have been the proper personalities who wouldnt dare go in public without some kind of support.
