I've seen you use rhinestones and beads and such on those gorgeous dresses. I ran across this on ebay and thought maybe something in here would work for someone....

Well, pooh! It's gotten so that if it's something I really, really, want I have to do an esnipe or I miss it. Even when I'm there in the last seconds it's gone. Sigh! We'll keep a watch out for some more Fannie!

I think the other bidder knew about E-snipe too, because I had my bid in thru E-snipe....oh well, it just means there is a better set of beads and lace out there just waiting for me.

Ok, I've never e-sniped. How do you do it? Is that the "Bid with Bid Assistant" thing on ebay?

Lazy K, I learned about it from an Alley member when I was bidding on Kate's salmon/grey gown and I was going to be without a computer when the auction ended. Yes, it's a bid assistant. There are several I know of; esnipe, auctionsniper. I used auctionsniper because they gave three free snipes. You provide the eBay item number, your maximum bid, your eBay id, and the number of seconds you want the bid placed before auction end. If you win, they get a %. I've won everything I used it for and it doesn't push the price up prior to the end of the bid. Well worth it for something you have your heart set on and are willing to pay for and can't be there to do the last minute bidding yourself.

I DID feel like I was cheating the first time I used it!! But I wanted Kate's gown for Blackheart's and my vow renewal ceremony and it was the perfect dress!! But if you can't be there or someone bidding against you is using it.....well......

Oh, I love using auctionsniper. Have used it for years and years. I figure out the most I can spend, set that limit, and never have to worry if I'm driving cross-country and am away from a computer. If someone else bids more than me, obviously I don't win. It keeps the bidding wars from happening (I truly hate that insanity) and I am able to stick to whatever budget I have, too. I've lost a few times since I won't go beyond my budgeted priced, but I've done that at live auction houses too. For the most part, I've won the items I've wanted for the prices I've wanted.
when I used to sell QVC clothes, I watched other women use it, too. As a seller I was happy to have my items sell, although a bidding war is always welcome to drive the price up. :lool
And if I REALLY want an item, I will snipe it with the highest amount my budget will allow. :gg
