Ya'll are a pain in my ***! :kbutt I am hand sewing yards of lace on, ya goof balls! I hate showing off stuff until it's done----drives me nuts! :18 I can't show you the finished product yet, so I will take pictures tomorrow of the dress. GEESH!!!! :re

Lady LaSalle

That is BEAUTIFUL!!! :bow

Lady LaSalle
08-29-2005, 10:39 AM
Ok, here is a close up of the bodice and the buttons. I am taking that lace and sewing it all on by hand in the direction that you see. Did I forget to mention that I'm also doing a double ruffle around the hem of the polonaise as well?

Lady LaSalle
08-29-2005, 10:41 AM
I'm using a light toffe moire' and a Jenny Byer mauve/mauve paisely. It's cotton, and I did have to flat line the skirt with muslin but it was so worth it. Here is a close up picture of the mauve.

Lady LaSalle
08-29-2005, 10:43 AM
Last picture..........this is a close up of the skirt. I did the ruffle and the "rouching" by hand (at least that's what I call it!), and this is what I'm hand sewing the lace onto at the moment. Ok, that it's for now! You're not going to see anymore until it's done!

Nellie Blue
08-29-2005, 10:47 PM
Wow! Worth the wait! I bow down to you! All that hand sewing!!! Argh!
:bow :bow :bow :bow

Coffee Em
08-30-2005, 02:23 PM
Ooooohooooohoooooh! I love the trims! Okay, remember what I said to PMS about that dress she was working on that she wasn't going to like when it was done? Nasty, awful dress ya got there. You just finish it up and sent it on over to me, honey, and I'll take it off your hands. (Reeeeeally need that smilie with the shorting-out halo...)

Cheers,
Coffee Em

Beautiful dress! I understand the hand sewing; it takes a long time, my hat off to you lady.........although I like to hand sew, very relaxing (while trying to watch TV?) but too impatient to do very often. ;-)

Lady LaSalle
09-03-2005, 10:19 AM
Ok girls, you will see pictures :ss of the completed dress before the day is out. I have to say that I LOVE the TV Polonaise pattern! I have to make one for myself now------add one more to my list of things to do! :goofy :sewing

...I have to say that I LOVE the TV Polonaise pattern! I have to make one for myself now------add one more to my list of things to do! :goofy :sewing

Hi LL,

I love it too. I found it very simple to make. I've made two out of cottons. The orange print one in my old avatar and a stripey, flowery one. I made the orange with a rounded neckline and front to be different. (It fits me much better in the neckline than the square neck does.) I need to make a skirt for the stripey one. I stole it's grey skirt for that Laughing Moon double breasted jacket costume and the black trim doesn't go with the stripe material. :re At least I have the fabric for it. It's going to be white with some of the stripey and grey trim (if it wants to have that trim). I hope to finish it after the convention.

I'm sorry you aren't coming to the convention. I'd love to see your dresses up close. Are you making any for convention attendees?

Regards,

Allie Mo

09-03-2005, 01:07 PM
To my knowledge, Mo, there won't be any of my dresses out there this year. I don't think any of my friends can get the time off from work or have the $$$ to go. That's cause I'm having them buy lots of fabric and stuff-----just ask Vickie! My name fills up one entire page of her checkbook! LOL!!!

Allie Mo
09-03-2005, 01:16 PM
Wow, LL does it again!

Clancy
09-03-2005, 06:57 PM

Since it is now January and my sewing season has begun I want to keep you updated on my projects.

As of today, I have completed 3 pairs of pants for dh. It has taken me 2 years, but they are now done.

Next is 6 shirts. Hopefully, I'll have one done today.

He, unfortunately, is being uncooperative and will not model so you'll just have to let your imagination run wild.

Once the shirts are done, then it's some quick sewing for myself. I have 7 scrub tops to make. Then a couple of quickie outfits for the girls. After that, the real sewing begins! I'll be about a week or 2! LOL!!!:sewing :sewing :sewing :sewing

UPDATE:
All husbands shirts done (that means no more sewing for him for a while!)

All scrub tops done (7 of them)

Kelsey's peach "Gone with the Wind" hat is done (OMG, it looks so cute on her!)

Cutting out Casey's BD dress and planning on sewing it this week (She turns 6 March 1)

Purple walking outfit skirt and overskirt is cut out.

Lady Fleur
02-06-2006, 01:22 AM
That is all? Really? you work too hard! Keep up the good work!!!

Lady LaSalle
02-10-2006, 10:58 PM
Get ready-------------Should have Kelsey's GWTW dress done by Monday if not sooner!!!!

Lady Fleur
02-10-2006, 11:19 PM
WHOO HOO darlin'is the purple walking suit out of the fabric I sent you??? How is it comming??

Lady LaSalle
02-10-2006, 11:52 PM
Have the skirts cut out--------waiting for the fabric and the pattern to arrive from CA. Not rushing to get it done. Still in desing mode with it. May still have to make some changes.

Lady LaSalle
02-13-2006, 11:33 PM
Ok, well I've been strapped to my sewing chair all weekend (for the most part) and I've gotten alot accomplished. Kelsey's 2 petticoats are done. One is much fancier than the other and took me a lot of time to do--------it has three rows of pin-tucks in one section of the skirt not to mention a bunch of eyelet beading. The other one is just a MASSIVE amount of fabric with 3 rows of gathered embroidered lace. The skirt part of her dress is completed and looks simply marvelous------especially with her in it. The colors are perfect for her. I'm working on the bodice now and it's taking me a bit longer than I anticipated. Once her new hoop gets here (hopefully this week) I will dress her all up and take pictures for you all to see her. Personally, I think she looks better than Scarlet O'Hara but I'm a bit biased so you all will have to decide! Off to work for the next 3 days. Bye!:kiss

Lady LaSalle
02-18-2006, 10:53 AM
Kelsey's GWTW dress is all done! What a bear it was! AUGH!!! I had a lot of problems getting the top to fit right, and I'm still not completely happy with it but it will have to do. Someone remind me that the next time I sew something for her not to use organdy------that is now 2 dresses that I've used it on for her! LOL!!!! The dress does look really nice and she looks beautiful in it. I need to put the finishing touches on her chemise this morning, and then I'll have pictures up here for everyone to see.

Lady LaSalle
02-18-2006, 02:23 PM
Here is Kelsey in her underwear

Lady LaSalle

Lady LaSalle
02-18-2006, 02:28 PM

All I've done is make shirts (9 this weekend and 6 last week), arm garters, puff ties, bandanas, vests...... :sewing

Black Hills Barb
02-20-2006, 08:23 AM
Oooooooh, thanks Fannie!!! :kiss

I've got off work today and my girlfriend and I are making a fabric run. First stop (after breakfast) the Woolrich outlet for wool, buttons and whatever else strikes our fancy. The entire store is 20% off today too! Then on to Surplus City - a place with an incredible "craft room" - fabric, feathers, buttons, ribbon - you name it, they have it. The front is the "man's mall" and the "ladies haven" is in the back. Always a fun place to stop even if you don't find anything you need. Then on to the Trimtex outlet for trim, buckles, etc. Last stop, JoAnn Fabrics. Gotta use that 10% off your total purchase coupon they sent me! :tban

My girlfriend quilts, so we always have a successful trip when we do this.

Well, time to get my jeans outta the dryer and hit the road. Later!

Tatted Lady
02-20-2006, 09:44 AM
Have fun shopping, i forgot about the coupon from joAnn's for this weekend for Presidents Day. So had better get on the run too. Plus finish packing.

South Paw Sadie
02-20-2006, 10:35 AM
Geez, LL, they are absolutely gorgeous! And I just love the way Kelsey sort of "slides into character" when she puts on a gown. She's got the attitude goin' on!! (I mean that in the very best way!) What a doll!!!

Lady Fleur
02-20-2006, 11:56 AM
Another LL beauty yes the young lady and the gown!

Lady LaSalle
02-20-2006, 03:10 PM
Vickie wants me to make sure that you all know that you can sleep well at night knowing that I am keeping my young slave labor working in my basement. They are busy making me these garments which I am taking full credit for. They get 3 meals a day plus room and board, and by keeping them chained to the sewing machine and serger I keep them out of trouble and out of sight from the local authorities.

Lady Fleur
02-20-2006, 03:15 PM
Hmm just like Desperate Housewives? I have driven down the set in universal hollywood.

Lady LaSalle
02-20-2006, 06:24 PM
Ok, I got the belt finished. And it took me longer to do it than the entire dress! I free-handed the same flower pattern that is on the embroidered fabric onto the satin. I then satin stitched the pattern in a matching DMC floss. Then I cut off the flower applieques' and beads from the fabric and resewed them onto my embroidered design. Whatcha think?

Lady LaSalle
02-20-2006, 06:26 PM
And here she is in the finished gown.

Lady LaSalle
02-20-2006, 06:27 PM
And another view-------sorry, the focus was off.

Lady LaSalle
02-20-2006, 06:28 PM
Side view----------hmmmmm, wonder where she get's the "hamminess" from?

Lady LaSalle
02-20-2006, 06:29 PM
Back view..........thank goodness that's not her real hair. I think I'd kill myself if it were.

Now of course since I've made 2 dresses for big sister, my little one is wondering where her dress is. So I guess that's my next project!

Lady Fleur
02-20-2006, 06:43 PM
GORGEOUS !!! I want one!! THE Emb. amazing!
The pagent community needs you! I'd only add some flowers to the tail of the ribbon?? BIG $$$$ there!
MORE is well WOW MORE LOL only if you want!!! How old is she now?

Lady LaSalle
02-20-2006, 06:48 PM
Believe it or not, she's only 10. Even though it's a good idea, I'm not going to do any more embroidery on the belt sash. I think it would take away from the dramatic effect it has in the front. I am going to make a matching purse, however. I just need to go to Joanne's and get some tassels and some pearls.

Lady Fleur
02-20-2006, 07:04 PM
OOH OOH good idea a reticule? Embroidery is a labor of love! Only 10?
My oldest is 7 and them lil sis is 2 i do want to do matching hoop gowns (I have 2 kid sized ones)! The first time my Sweet rayanna wore them she was a visiting lady in waiting for the queen at the local ren faire! She went on progress (parade thru the shire) with all of the Royal court! I was a high ranking noble myself! She ran thru the tall grass at top speed at one point and ate it big time . I saw the whole thing and roared laughing, she trotted up hearin me and was laughing we both had such fun! Thank heavens no stains!Lil girls need a little fun! Just like mom ,my girls love dress up!

What do I think? I think we're gonna haveta moider you, is what I think! You should see my attempts at embroidery. Or, no, you shouldn't.

Anyway, that's just purrrrrrrrfect. I want to be ten again and have my very own fairy princess dress.

Lady Fleur
02-22-2006, 03:24 PM
Hey I think a 2-4 hour minamum for large projects is good then 10-20 for each hour after that depending on the job. Golly you need to make some$ this art ain't free. (yes some things must be sacrificed $ wise to make a $) So a discount here or there... My brotherinlaws smoking jacket took 4-6 hours from cut to finish 3x mans sm jacket and tie with free slippers! Time and with the fabric included... 215. Now how much did i really make... I said try and get it for less and with these fabrics.... he said minamum 500$ to 1500! Haaa see i was cheap but was it too cheap and reversable...LOL:sewing SEW on artists of the cloth!

Now the sleeves are a little long for her, but this dress is for late spring and fall-----------and the way she grows, it wouldn't fit her come October!

Look at that face! It has innocence written all over it (right next to ornary)!

Casey looks soooooo wonderful! (I swear, I had a Betsy McCall doll when I was her age that looked just like her, only her wardrobe wasn't as cute as these two dresses.) I love her sunbonnet--it's even Arizona-worthy for keeping the back of one's neck from sunburning.

Greeneyed Gypsy

Lady LaSalle
02-27-2006, 11:43 PM
The Amy jacket really brings the whole outfit together. Casey loves it. She calls it her "victorian fashions dress"! LOL!!!!

Now here is the kicker, and GG can vouche for me. I cut the jacket out last night, so the prep work was done. Entire sewing time for the jacket was 2 hours-----not kidding! It took me about 45 minutes to put on the satin binding and the peach lace. That was one of the quickest outfits that I think I have ever made. It's right up there with Patti's rose and ivory gown that I made in 11 hours.

Greeneyed Gypsy
02-27-2006, 11:49 PM

Ok, my skirt-overskirt-bodice is all cut out. The underskirt is proving to be a mathmatical challenge to me (and giving GG a headache), so I may not get it done this weekend. We shall see. Cross your fingers everyone!

Lady LaSalle
03-12-2006, 09:20 PM
Ok, so I've been telling all of you about my purple dress. The underskirt is FINALLY done! Man-oh-man! If I never see another box pleat in my life, it will be too soon!

In any case, I thought you would like to see the fashion plate where I got my idea from. So here it is!

Lady LaSalle
03-12-2006, 09:20 PM
And here is my rendition! Not too shabby, aye?

Lady LaSalle
03-12-2006, 09:22 PM
Now it's just the underskirt-----I do have the overskirt cut out and ready to get going on it. It's going to be a bit tricky, so I'm taking my time on it. This picture is out of focus, but it gives you an idea of the true color of the silk.

Lady LaSalle
03-12-2006, 09:27 PM
This is the outfit that goes with my parasol-----the one that GG did such an unbelievable job on. The skirt is made out of dupioni silk, silver silk/rayon blend, and beaded embroidered organdy lace. Here is a close up of my skirt.

Someone PLEASE tell me why is it that almost E-V-E-R-Y single dress that I have made for myself, including ball gowns, has (#*$#&&#@ beaded trim on it? Why can't I just make an outfit with ruffles and lace like everyone else? I guess sparkly stuff just attracks my attention!!! Better go and buy some more sewing needles to replace the 3 that I busted sewing this stuff on! LOL!!!

Lady LaSalle
03-15-2006, 08:35 PM
Ok, so here it is! The overskirt is a combination of 2 different fashion plates---the one that I already posted and another. It was very challenging to blend them together, but I think I did ok.

Lady LaSalle
03-15-2006, 08:36 PM
There is a sash that is supposed to go over the skirt, but I'm not so sure about it. There is so much going on with the skirt now, it may be too much. We'll have to see.

Lady LaSalle
03-15-2006, 08:38 PM

Coffee Em
03-16-2006, 11:27 AM
Man, and when I look at the original fashion plate and think, "That was made in wool broadcloth or something equally easy to cut and sew," and see your results in sneaky escape-artist satin, you get extra-extra credit!

Yeah, I like the sash, too. There are so many of 'em in natural-form fashion plates, and I haven't seen a lot in reproduction dresses. Go for it!

Cheers,

Nope Em you are looking at dupioni silk and black cotton velvet! Wonderful to work with! oh and she already heard my 2 cents...but just for the record....

SASH- SASH!

That hat is Denise Nadine's Daly Lynn. Ain't it purdy?! And so easy to make. I love it!

AM, that is my natural hair color. Too bad my real hair is so thin and fine that I couldn't do that hairdo! That is the new wig that I just bought from the Wig Lady-----the last post that Fannie put up. I think it's wonderful, and not too drag queen!

As far as to where I am wearing the dress to------------just to my local shoots. No particular event. I totally intend on wearing this Sunday (if it's over 50 degrees) for the first match of 2006. I will be shooting my behind off wearing that sucker!

Ima, it would seem that you are closer to the corset and I am closer to the parasol. If we can snag these items, we should make sure we show up at the same event with them, and we can do our LL impersonation. :lool :lool

The tape recorder arrives, Agent Ima and Agent Fannie listen to the recording:
"Your mission, should you choose to accept it is to go under cover. You will need to obtain one white "to die for" corset from Greeneyed Gyspsy and one purple "to die for parasol", which is being hidden in Delaware. You will need over the top accessories in bright colors. Your mission will be to impersonate Lady Lasalle, the leader of the notorious Delaware Diamonds. You will infiltrate this organization to learn how they have so much fun.
This tape will self destruct in 5 seconds." :flame

The parasol is absolutely beautiful. I am impressed with anyone who can make one of those things.
