Hi Ladies, I wish some of ya'll who are so good at designing and making these gorgeous hats, would make a photo diary of the making of a hat. I was given the TV550 hat pattern by my sis, Butterbean. But it intimidates the heck out of me. I can sew anything but this hat business is a puzzle.

Thanks,

NoGunz Kay :gf

I'm sure there are more qualified than I am but I was thinking of doing a hat making diary. Are you wanting to know how to make a hat from a kit or start from scratch?

I just looked at that tv 550. Easy once you see how to do it.

Maybe a ribbon around the base of the crown. I always like to put my hat on in front of a mirror with my box o' trim, flowers etc and see what looks good.

That is just what I need at the moment!!! I want to cover a straw hat for my fall outfit but I'm clueless (as usual) as to where to start.

Hi all - saw the note on hat workshops and wanted to point out that the hat making process that I use in my kits and patterns is outlined on my web site. Thought it might be helpful to anyone interested in making hats.

Here is the link to the hat making process:

http://www.denisenadinedesign.com/Hat%20Learning.htm

The hat kits have comprehensive instructions that theoretically substituite for a hat making class.

Hope this helps

:ty LK for finding those classes. However, if I remember correctly, PMS class was on covering an 1890s wide-brim hat.

I found this this morning while I was looking for ribbon rose patterns.

http://www.gutenberg.org/files/19740/19740-h/19740-h.htm

I skimmed through it and it's a complete reprint of an old book on how to make hats, ribbons, flowers etc. Even had some great tips on refurbishing hats.

It does have a few diagrams, but on the trim it's lacking a little.
