If I do get forced to eat a pie, I carefully scrape the filling off the crust.:faint Once I get a little bit of crust, it is ruined for me.

Shawme, bake your pie filling in cupcake wrappers, voila...no crust to ruin the "pie".
I have my own little hang ups, so I can't say anything about your anit-crust hang up.:lool I'm just trying to help out my sister Belle.

Thank you Fannie, but if I just bake it in the crust for everyone else, then I'm less likely to eat it!:go

Sometimes, we need to make lots of pies at one time ... like now with Thanksgiving and Christmas coming up. This sounds strange but makes wonderful pie crust. It came from my mother's dearest friend, who usually makes a batch to wrap in plastic wrap and gives it to her busy daughters for holiday pies.
Lola’s Pie Crust
From: Lola Stubeck from Trout Canyon, Nevada
When you need several pie crusts (such as Christmas and Thanksgiving and for pie sales) this recipe can’t be beat even though it sounds strange! Also it will keep several days when wrapped in plastic wrap.
Break 1 egg into 1 cup measuring cup
Add 2 Tablespoons vinegar and finish filling with cold water to 1 cup mark. Stir well.
In a bowl, sift 5 cups flour and 1 teaspoon salt.
Cut in 2 cups shortening.
Add the water mixture.
Blend with a fork. (It will get warm.:faint ) Let cool for about 20 minutes.
Divide into about 6 portions if using right away. Wrap in Saran Wrap if storing for later use.
Makes about 3 double pie crusts or 6 single crusts.
Bake at 425° for 10-15 minutes if pre-baking.
Hint: for single unbaked pie crusts-place in 425° oven til surface of crust is “dry” before filling with your favorite filling. Crust will not be soggy.
Made a few days early, it sure helps during the holiday rushes! Nellie's Mom

Very interesting, is it flaky?
Nellie's Mom

Yes, PMS, it is a flaky pie crust. If you ever have to make your CAS group (or even the tea parties you used to talk about) a dessert, give it a try, I think you will find it VERY easy to do. It will impress Bat as well as the other cowboys (and cowgirls). Nellie's Mom

Well, flaky is what I hate and everyone else loves! So that should do the trick! I'll have to try it, as for me, I'll make Garnet Rose's version.
Thanks everyone!

I said pumpkin tie (since PMS had me revisit the "Guys seldom listen" http://www.carolinabelles.net/vb/showthread.php?t=330 thread to find her recipe), not pumpkin pie! LOL
Although, I suppose there could be some crust on his tie if he eats pie while wearing it.
Nellie's Mom, your crust recipe sounds interesting!

Well I hate to let everyone in on this, but Bat may dress up good, but "Pumpkin tie" fits him perfectly!

Oh looking back on that thread... Hmm...do you suppose if I had baked Iron Feather more pumpkin pies maybe he wouldn't have kept leaving?!?!? :lalala
Has Garnet Rose discovered the secret to a long and happy marriage!?!?:gg
(Please don't get me wrong this is all tounge and cheek here, I am blissfully happy where I am at RIGHT NOW!!!!!!)
HOWEVER Bat and I were talking about what his favorite pie is and it happens to be Pumpkin Pie, so I really think that Garnet Rose may be on to something.:kiss

I dunno, could be :w2 . It's only been 30 years this month since we moved in together and we've only been married 27 of those -- so pumpkin pie may not be *the* secret, but I do believe that baked goods play a large part in adding to the happiness factor. You know that old adage ":kiss Kissin' don't last; cookin' do" is at least half right!

I'll post the recipe when I start my fall baking....if I get to fall baking this year. I just started my first batch of TV patterns. Help, I'm addicted. :faint

Miss PMS,
We take some of the pumpkin pie filling and bake it in a custard cup. I don't fully care for pumpkin pie, either. I do like the filling. Sometimes we even make a pumpkin pudding type thing. I like other pies with crust. It is just that pumpkin (and mincemeat) are not my favorites. Or SOUP! We make pumpkin soup! (if I DON'T quit typing pumpKING I will never be able to quit editing!)
