Any thoughts on lining these boots:

with fur. I wear a 7 and these are 8.5. I would like to line a pair of red boots with white fur for winter and I found these for auction. Oh dibs by the way. Any help before I buy would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

YOU Better bid on them, or else I will. They are mine and Gypsy's size... with out the lining.

Are you looking for a "Santa" type look with the fur around the top?
Just sew some fur on some socks and have the ankle/leg portion stick up out of the boot, so it's not a permanent treatment and you can sell them to ME!:lalala

Ima, watching you, Schofield

Thank you!! That's a good idea. And I was also thinking about wearing a really thick sock. I want a pair of "winter" boots to go with a wintery outfit!! I'll bid on them. If they don't work and I swim in them, we'll talk!!

Fur lining would be real pain to do. It will wrincle up as soon as it gets any moisture on it. You would be better off making a wool felt liner and putting a fur collar on it to show above the top of the boot.
Military surplus stores will have liners for the Air Force style mukluk liners they are white wool felt and will give you a base to work off of.
Check the thrift store on Mountain Home, they should have liners too.

Kaycee that too is an awesome idea!! The liner would be soooooo much easier that trying to line the boot!! Thanks!!

Yep, I'd go with the "Make a sock-like liner edged with fur" solution.

And those boots are so desperately loveable...

Thanks Em, but alas they went over my pittance of a budget. :cry However the lining-with-fur trim has opened up a whole new world for me!! Thanks for the ideas!!

You can make slip-ons out of fake fur to put over the top of any bootie or whatever. Just cut a rectangle of the fur and make casings for elastic at the top and bottom, by folding over the fur and sewing. Then put a narrow elastic in each casing, shorter elastic for one side than the other, so that side of the fur pulls in more, becomes smaller, and fits your leg better. You can make the rectangle extra wide to fold over somewhat on the inside, to make the whole thing thicker and give a fur look on the "inside of the boot."

BTW, if you want new old-fashioned looking boots J Jill (www.jjill.com) has some nice ones. I myself tend not to buy them on eBay because I'm a size 5 (or very occasionally a 5 1/2, if the shoes run small) and a lot of US manufacturers don't even make my size any more.

Great website and awesome direction as well! Thank you!! I'll have to give that "furring" a try as well!!
