Unfortunately, we don't currently have any indoor pets, but we do feed the birds. Calico snapped this pic this weekend. Enjoy!

Gee, ours would chase each other off the feeders. Particularly one male, guess he was the Alpha in the area.........Buck:faint :go

We had to take our feeder down. Our lab was TERRIFIED of the hummingbirds and we got a few in the house!

Hummingbirds are very easy to train. They will land on your finger and feed out of what ever dispenser you might be near or holding. BUT, besides that picture of cute birds, I see a lake, mountains and trees, I'm home sick!

When we lived in Oklahoma we were so excited when we had 2 hummers visit the feeders. Now we have 14 feeders hanging!!

At the Wild Animal Park near here there is Lorikeet Landing where you can buy cups of nectar to feed the birds. I haven't tried feeding the hummers that way, though. How can you be homesick? There's no snow here ;-)

Lazy K, our hummers have been drinking the two feeders dry in under 24 hours. How on earth do you manage to keep so many feeders going?

Buck, we've always had Anna's hummingbirds who live here year-round, and yes, the males are aggressive and chase the others away. However, this summer is the first time that the Costa's hummingbirds have visited us and they refuse to be intimidated by the Anna's and they are more willing to share the feeders.

Poor pup! We haven't ever had hummers get in the house, but then, we don't have dogs who need to have the door stay open while they make up their minds whether they want to be in or out!

WOW! I've never managed to get a decent pic of the little zippers. Those are great!

I think the reason why hummingbirds aren't scared of humans much is because they don't believe we exist. Yep, just slow-movin' furniture, that's us. (Except when one gets annoyed that I'm on its turf, and alternates a barrage of bad hummingbird language with swooping alarmingly past my nose...!)

We are slaves to the humming birds, not to mention the little gold finches that eat a lb of thistle everyday.:faint

We have them in NC and I love watching them.....this year we didn't have feeders, but they loved the fruit trees.......or looked like they did while they may have been searching for the sugared water......NOT :tban

You know, Em, if you'd quit filling the feeders from your espresso machine your hummers wouldn't be so aggressive! :go

Wallaby, they DO know the words. The ruby throateds here twitter at each other when they chase each other.
the Alpha male in our area would sit on top of the rabbit silohuette on the shepard's hook the feeders were on, and dare the others to come in. Wife took a pic of him, but was too far away for him to show real well...........Buck:faint :go

Hi there, Squawty here. This year is the first year that I have not had feeders up in a lone time. Luckily, there is a large Trumpet vine in my yard that is just loaded with blooms and the Hummers love it. My location on the Gulf Coast is on one of their flyways as a jumping off point for their long over water flight,so while they are in the area there is a feeding frenzy. They are amazing little creatures, I marvel at there tenacity where the feedres are concerned. Nice photos, thanks for posting. Squawty:ty
