Mo,
If you start with a puppy, it will be your best friend ever! After looking at these pictures, how could you resist a puppy? They just love to give puppy sugar and play and snuggle. I love puppies....I also love them once they are full grown.

They are adorable. In photo one, they are about kitty size. If I start there, I'm sure it will be okay. Photo two shows a handsome pup. :Nellie 's photo shows they can be kitty trained. Yep, I'm warming to the idea.
Thanks,

I think your kitties will be just fine....they could probably use a guard dog.

My little princess is going in on Friday to be spayed... 6 months old and she has to be micro-chipped and registered now with the local council.
Mo, puppies greet you at the door after a bad day and they instantly put a smile on your face and you forget...You can really understand why they have dogs for companion pets for older age people.

Just remember, Mo...they start out kitty sized....but they GROW! So don't get them in the habit of sitting on your lap in the recliner! Trust me on this! :lool There's nothing like a 110 pound "puppy" that still wants to sit on your lap like he did in his younger days! :rofl

A dog properly raised by a cat is an excellent dog. Cats have very high standards for these things. Remember, you have to be away from the house for hours every day; while you're out, the cat will be continuing the kind of intensive training and socialization required to ensure ideal dog behavior. There's no substitute for a feline trainer.

Our cat trained our puppy....he tried to play with the cat by bopping her on the head while bouncing around....the cat took it about 2 times and the 3rd hauled off and whapped the dog on the nose with her claws....even when the dog was about 5 years old, if the cat was on the grass he would go WAY around the cat to get his ball (Cookie used to play catch with the dog and throw it toward the cat on purpose). Now we don't have any animals, they have all died and we are on the go to much...(we have grand kids instead):rofl

:ty for the cute photos. I've got two alpha, former feral male (they have the clipped ears to prove it), cats that I hope can be mellowed by the introduction of a BIG dog. (They'd probably eat a little dog.) Then, there's the wimpy female (cat, not me), who would :faint at the sight of a dog. I'll let you know what happens.
Cross your fingers that it happens soon (I can hardly wait to move out of downtown, six blocks from the Capitol, Sacramento)!
Luv y'all,

BTT for me to ponder. As you can see, I've been thinking about this for a while. The Collie thing just came up yesterday.

EM, I'm familiar with that trick, too. Two out of three cats here try it on a regular basis. The third won't let you anywheres close to her belly. Matter of fact, don't think I've ever seen her on her back.............Buck:faint :lool
