Just saw the post Chiz put up for Indoor Shooting during the convention. Sounds like fun-- bigtime!
Called the SASS office and got signed up to shoot "B- Western" on the BLUE Posse.
If interested-- you better sign up ASAP as it is limited to 150 shooters.

Let me see if I have this right....I can shoot the indoor shoot for additional $90.00 ($90.00x150=$13,500.00 for SASS), with wax bullets or facsimile thereof, or go shoot the real thing at El Dorado Cowboys, in Boulder City, for $10.00, as a member. What shall I do? This is going to require some real thinking!......................................... ........

Under a 2x4 or 4x6, I am not sure that the average person (from the uniformed public), which there are few in this sport, are going to blindly go to a convention and pay $90.00 to shoot wax bullets. SASS aimed this at the membership with a fee, representing most regional and state shoots. Marketing to attract new members this does not. My advice: Save the $90.00 and use it to come to the 2007 BUST OUT!

I don't get this convention thing. My husband doesn't want to go because there is no shootung and now that they have indoor shooting they want to charge extra. The way I see it they want me to pay $145 to go shopping. Is there something I'm missing???????

The $145 also includes 3 seminar classes, entry to the Saloon Dance on Thursday night and the Yesteryear Ball on Saturday night.

Yes and NO! The entrance to the Convention is open to the public. You pay the fee for a pin, 3 free seminars (which you just paid for) and access to recption and hospitality..BUT NOT THE DINNER and BALL. That is an extra $95.00.
QUOTE: SASS Convention: Combo Package- Conventioneer & Ball Package – Non Hotel Guest Price: $185.00
Combo Package includes one basic Conventioneer registration which includes one free $10.00 seminar per day and a ticket to the Saturday Night Scarlet Ball. This fee only applies if you are a NOT guest of the Riviera Hotel and Casino. UNQUOTE
If you pay the $64.00 a night fee plus tax for the hotel you can have the combo package for $145.00
GET your calculator out: For residents of Las Vegas and the surrounding area there is NO discount.
This is a great opportunity for the uninformed to get educated in the seminars. NOTWITHSTANDING that: I fail to see the justification of the costs. In light of the fee's charged to the vendors to set up, coupled with convention fees, I am still at a lost. ( But I am not the sharpest pencil in the box, nor does my elevator stop at every floor).
Have I had a good time at the convention?..Yes..But I haven't paid those fees to attend. I have attended every convention, but only one ball, and that was becasue of my dedication to the Belles and Happy Trails Children's Foundation. I don't place a value on commitment to friends or beliefs..AND I don't assume the fee's charged will buy my entertainment.

All I can say is--- with my schedule and time constraints--- it is worth $90 to shoot for fun and not have to bring anything with me nor worry about being away from the office. Finding coverage is a real hassle. Fun for me - being a solo DDS- will always have a hi $$ value associated with it.
I always end up paying someone to go on vacation. Might as well be indoor shooting.
Relax and have fun. If it's not fun--- it's time to find someting else to do:jp

K, I'd almost pay the whole cost of the convention just for the fun of Miss Tabitha's Victorian dance lessons and the chance to dress up and dance period dances. Miss Tabitha is the best teacher--she makes it easy and fun!
The convention's also a place to wear the swell things you wouldn't wear to shoot in, which makes it prime for costume-watching. But it's not everyone's cup of tea/coffee, I know.

It's worth it to me! When I shoot, I wear pants and shirts...it gives me a chance to wear my other stuff! And if you go, don't miss Miss Tabitha's Underwear Show or the fashion show.
