Now that I have spread my wings and bought a long skirt and lacey top (photo attached - again!), I was wondering if I could wear a hat with it? If so, what sort of hat?

Then if I had a hat on, could I wear it on a wig that was 'down' and not 'up'?

I am trying to educate myself on some of the finer things, thanks to Clancy's influence!

I bought a black beaded purse on ebay tonight and have searched on here for chatelaine information, I am hoping Trinity will bend me a spoon! I can't believe I have been looking at these things for the last three weeks on our trip and now am wanting one. That's what happens when you buy new clothes the day before you fly home.....

But, the bit of the chatelaine that your purse hangs on, should that be visible or not?

:ty in advance.

Ruby, it takes me a long time to decide too.

I saw you walking towards the tent at HOW banquet night as I was dragging my wet sodden clothes, hat, boots into the truck; I had just finished shooting for the day.

Do you have a feather, black or red that you could wear with that beautiful outfit?

Showing off your chatelaine is a matter of personal preference. The one that J. Mark bent for me is really too pretty to hide all the time, but most of the time it is covered by my bodice. I like to use longer corset strings that can be wrapped around my waist and I hang the chatelaine over my skirt's waistband and over the corset strings, too. That way it doesn't drag down the waistband of my skirt.

I am still having trouble picturing Ruby in a long dress. I've only ever seen the Saloon outfit and her day wear.

Clancy has a lot to answer for :sewing :chick

Dont you go blaming me!!... well maybe some of my influence rubbed off on her after spending three weeks together everyday!..She still has the saloon outfit but that will be for saloon/gambling nights!...

Who knows Judge she may even have a different look for Chisholm!

Don't worry Judge Lead, it will take more than a long skirt to take the saloon girl outta me!!!

It felt great walking around in a long skirt though.

Probably Saturday night at Chisholm I'll try and be a bit more lady like..... :faint

SJL - I have got a variety of red and black feathers I wear with my saloon girl outfits but just wanted a slightly different look and I've always fancied a cute (big or small) hat - just never had an outfit to wear one with before!

I did wonder about the chatelaine pulling down the waistband of my skirt Garnet Rose, but I don't wrap my corset string round me so it will have to go on the skirt for now, unless I can come up with a cunning plan.

Any other hat suggestions???

You could definitely wear a hat with that! Maybe something like this, in red and black?

Here's another that would look good--just change out the roses for red ones!

A reproduction of the Annie Oakley dress is a great idea. Go, Ruby Sureshot!

I do like those hats but I was kind of thinking of something a little bigger.....

Now I've never had a priod correct costume so I'm not too worried about that, how would something like this look?

Miss Ruby

Or maybe something like this?

Those are off ebay and out of my price range so whatever I do will have to be second hand and 'rubyised'.

But am I on the right track?

The big black one is very "you"....Lots of fluffy feathers....I like it! :tban :tban :tban (The red one is too "school marmish" for you.) :rofl If you keep watching Ebay, you can find one like that at a decent price...I've seen them.

Ruby, I agree with the girls, NOT the red hat. It's too conservative for you. You need aBIG Hat.

The hat looks great but, after EoT etc, I just can't afford it at the moment!!! :fw

I will have to try and find a second hand hat here that I can 'rubyise'....

Thanks for the suggestions though guys. :ty

(you can still have it... in your budget...)
3 options...
1. pay in time when you can..
2 I have others i can do in ANY budget.
3. i can do a "kit" of ruby goodies...
I have a very wide frame hat just slightly diffrent than the one seen!
It can be done in any color combo!!
P.s the first one is velvet!
