Iron Ed was wondering how to do sepiatone, Old Timey photos in Photoshop, back in Ms. Clancy's photo thread. So for the mighty cat herder (and anyone else interested)...
To create a sepia photo in Photoshop, first convert your image to grayscale (under Image menu, select Mode, then Grayscale). Now, again under the Mode menu, you should have the Duotone option. Select it, then choose your two colors in the Duotone Options box that should pop up. Could be black and brown, or dk. and light brown (that's what I did for this). If you have the Preview box checked, you can try things out until you like the image.
Click "okay," and you'll have a sepiatone. Now add speckle and dust and scratches from the Filter menu. Looky! Ol' time photo!
I started with this:

Coffee! Coffee! Yes, I work for COFFEE! Woohoo! :tban:tban:tban:tban
The other thing I love about Photoshop lately, by the way, is the "Save for web" option in the File menu. It automatically compresses the file size, with options for selecting the image quality, and provides another spot for resizing the image, complete with feedback on how big your finished file will be.
Frankly, Photoshop is way more powerful than I need it to be. But the stuff I do most often, it does so well... :D
And thank you, Skye! *blush*

A toast to Coffee Em for her "public service" post!:ty
I did this photo months ago and don't remember how I did it. Seems that it took me many more steps. It will be a "snap" next time with your instructions.
Regards,
Gotta :go Mo
