Good Evening Ladies & Gents,
I hope this is the correct venue for cowboy poetry. One of my friends asked me to post one, so this one seems as good as any.
BLIND DATE

A blind date is curious thing
When you are a cowboy, single and old
Taking the plunge into the unknown
Leaves this cowboy’s courage cold
What does she look like, is she nice?
Is she as nervous as me?
Make’s a cowboy wonder
And makes him want to flee
What makes friends size us up?
And plan our social life?
Can’t we make our own mistakes
And be happy with the strife?
Now these things can turn out good or bad
I guess it doesn’t matter
You try your best to smile a lot
And keep up with the chatter
Mother’s advice comes back to me
“Don’t talk about loves gone bye”
But how am I supposed to rate this one
If I just wink and act real shy
Do the gals like to take a peek?
And glance when we don’t see
To get a better look at our build
And give us the third degree
On first dates we sometimes go
And do things we don’t normally do
Like the opera, or tennis, or shopping
While trying to parlez-vous
My friend Ron will complain and whine
When on a blind date he is invited to go
But no self respecting cowboy
Will ever think of saying no
So I guess a blind date is a thing of the times
Like the internet and next month’s rent
So I’ll buck up my courage, for next go-around
Figuring it’s got to be time well spent
I hope this is the correct venue for cowboy poetry. One of my friends asked me to post one, so this one seems as good as any.
