Hello Everyone,

Recently I donated a hat to the Cajon Cowboys Legends of the West silent auction. This is a benefit for the Happy Trails Foundation, and I've always been happy to support that. I thought I would post some pictures of the hat just to demonstrate my work. I'm not sure what the auction closed at but I will find out and post it if anyone is interested.

Miss Lucy, that is a very pretty hat! Great work! :bow I need to make a few hats. Where do you get the different forms? Has anyone tried the TV hat pattern or do you buy the forms and cover them like PMS did on the Old Alley? I'm looking forward to my Opulant Victorian magazine for help too. :ban

Hello Duzy,

Thank you for your lovely comments on my hat. I don't use forms very much, except for the teardrop when I first started. I make my own out of buckram which you can buy over the web. I like heavy buckram but one time my order was late and I had a show coming up. I was frantic and went to Jo Ann's fabrics and found lightweight buckram. Not at all like what I use, but I was in a pinch, so I ended up doubling it. It worked o.k. but I prefer the heavier buckram. I wasn't able to make as many forms as I would have liked due to the time frame.
I make my own patterns, getting ideas from pictures. It's not an easy process and it takes a lot of time. All the sewing is done by hand, and many hours.
