I was wondering if anyone can recommend a good men's pants pattern?
I would like to find patterns for both "farmer" & saddle pants.
Thanks for the help!

Howdy Miz Lily,
What are "Farmer" pants? Buckaroo Bobbins has a men pants pattern that includes saddle pants, in addition to regular pants.

Oh sorry! That's what the guys up here call the ones that have a back pocket & no saddle. I don't know what you really call them. I was thinking that was what all the guys in SASS called those ones.
I saw the Buckaroo Bobbins pattern, but I know that some people have had issues with some of their patterns, so I thought I would see what folks had to say before I ordered that one. I also looked on "The Great Pattern Review" http://www.gbacg.org/Patterns/index.html but they weren't listed there.

Miz Lily,
Laughing Moon also has a pants pattern. Just "Farmer" pants, but the pattern is also sized for women if you wanted a pair. :re :re :)

Lily,
As the only men's patterns TV has are the Laughing Moon patterns, I'd say that's a pretty good recommendation for the LM pattern.
I haven't made any men's pants; but, LM has the best directions. If you have any problems email her and she will help.

I don't have a good pattern for saddle pants, but I have a great one for regular pants: IT WAS A PAIR OF PANTS THAT I HEMMED TOO SHORT FOR HUBBY! I somehow mis-measured and cut over 6" off one pant leg! :kbutt I kept the pants, cut the seams, and it is the best pants pattern that I have! LMAO!!! :re

That is a great idea! I have actually done that with some of my favorite pants after they wear out, but at the moment hubby doesn't have any that I don't think he would mind me taking apart! :18

You know if he has an old pair of jeans, they would work well too!

I have made my hubby several pairs of pants, and may I just say, I am not a tailor. I despise making men's clothes (nothing against you Iron Feather, I know you need clothing :kiss) However, I have found that The Wisconsin Historical Society has a great men's pattern http://www.wisconsinhistory.org/patterns/1878sacksuit.html
It is a 1878 sack suit and includes pants the suit coat and a vest. It went together like a dream! Now if I could just get him to wear it.

I made the LM Californian pants, it was the first time I made men's clothing (hubbie was sooooo pleased!!!).
As I cut out the peaces and looked at them I wondered how ever they would come together as pants, but I took out the sewing instructions, went step by step, and hey, what ya know???? Hubbie is now running around in chocolatebrown/creme fishbone heavy duty wolen pants I myself sewed!!!
(could'nt be more proud of myself... :bow )
Now the unfinished project is hanging in the wardrobe, eying me all the time... a chocolatebrown frockcoat to be... I find it very difficult to put in the pockets, somehow, somewhere I'm misreading the instructions, and as English is not my native language I don't know the meaning of the terms used in the instructions.
But still, the LM pattern is great to work with, hubbie isn't going to buy pants no more, or... :kbutt

Thanks Betty!
I will have to give them a try! I have the frackcoat pattern also but have yet to attempt it. When I do I will let you know how it goes & you do the same. You know that if you ever have any questions about pattern instructions feel free to ask. We would be happy to help you out! :)
