We held a fundraiser at Sutter's Fort last night and more items from our collection showed up. This time, I took pictures of a silk dress that was made in the 1850's.... absolutely gorgeous. I'd like to find fabric in those colors but not silk since I'm usually in the kitchen cooking. Also, there was a quilted petticoat from 1792 that was in fantastic shape. Comments were made that someone had way too much time on their hands.

To see these photos, go to http://www.picturetrail.com/royer (http://www.picturetrail.com/royer) and look under the Sutter's Fort album. This is the same album that had the wedding dress in it. Thought you might like to see these pictures.

I love the colors on the plaid, and the way the lines of it converge on the pointed front of the bodice. That's really handsome.

And yes, the hand-quilted petticoat is terrifying in its how-many-lifetimes-did-that-take-to-finish-ness!
