Do you still have the link to that Swedish (?) website with the silver and red dress with all of the rouching? I'd much appreciate it! :kiss

Nah, that must not be it, 'cause who'd want to look at THAT dress? (Omigawd, I want it soooooo bad. The two-color pleats at the bottom, that mock vest front, the color, omigawd.)

Cheers,

It is intresting... I have been considering something with the ruch- bubble effect the skirt has.....hmmm... I just don't know, the pleating fool in me is raising an eyebrow and shaking non-fluffy loving head...LOL

But it does catch the eye does'nt it? I find myself grabbing papaer and folding and re-folding to work out the pleat effect the bottom has...its the puzzle dress!LOL

OMG - I love that dress too! Dang...who wouldn't?

GG - I've been doing the same thing. Fold, cut, unfold, try again. I've come close but haven't quite got it yet.

Ok, here is what i came up with. This is the outcome, i have a single layer of fabric, i didnt line it...You could obviously make them as big or as small as you like....

Clancy
03-07-2006, 04:40 AM
This is the pattern i made to do it...It is only rough, the yellow is just so you could see the white

Clancy
03-07-2006, 04:45 AM
and the same pattern used with two colours..this is only on paper...you would use an awful lot of fabric to make them. As you can see i only got two returns and the paper i used was 11 1/2 inches by 8 1/4

Greeneyed Gypsy

yep that is about where I got to... then I starting adding yardage for size and EWWWWWW But there is some insane person on this board who cares not for numbers or yardage, so we are going to attempt it anyway....some people are so silly

Ok I sent this to MOM, she's a quilter and I know she has done some quilt blocks with this design of pleating.

So we'll have wait ( I know waiting is not our favorite thing to do) and see what she has to say and if she can post a class for us on the Belle Academy.

Hope it helps possibly scaled down!

Fluer not sure what part you are refering to...

Ima...being a once apon a time quilter myself...I know what your mom is talking about. Quilting is such a great exercise in geometry and math!

You will be waiting for a bit, we are still shopping for fabric and this is an after the Folly project anyway.

I for one am not all that excited about it, except for the fact that I will get to say lookie I did it...its a bit too much going on for my taste...but you know LL ...there is no such thing as "too much" LOL I figure it will be a good exercise for me, I need to learn to be more comfortable with fluff.

Fleur

Which dress does not excite you? the silver/burgundy one below in the pics. Hey don't do every detail make it your own... Unless there are reasons to make it exact. The poofy rows (placed up too high) will be a magnifier for any hips larger then itty bitty...
HEY I am not concerned with having too much yardage! heck the more the fluffier lol!
The devil is in the details!
You will survive!!

the part about making a techinacaly complicated dress for a PITA who will start calling twice a day and asking if it is finished yet about 10 seconds after I procure the fabric....

Greeneyed (did I say that outloud? Love ya LL) Gypsy

OK so here is what I am thinking... Im am going to mount the puff and ruched faric on a drop waisted pattern skirt...you see these done with wide pleats so that you are not trying to force a skirt length pleated mass into a waist band that is much smaller....

So basically you can have your LONG rectangle of puff and ruch and make it hang even.

Greeneyed (have a plan ...but it will have to wait until after May ) Gypsy

Speaking of calling you.......................! LOL!!!!

Fannie, I found some beautiful silver dupioni with red flowers embroidered on it. I'm waiting to hear back from the seller now about it. It is PERFECT for this dress!

Gyps, the buckaroo bobbins Polonaise pattern is very similar to this dress. I have made this dress, its at home obviously (not stashed under my desk), i will put it on dolly tonight and take some photos,, mine is pink and green...Sounds yukky......The bodice is very much the same as that dress LL wants...The sleeves can be made without the cap sleeve overlays...I also have some tips about teh pattern that i would do differently..

Lady LaSalle
03-07-2006, 09:26 PM
Hey, that looks really close! I'm not going to put the overskirt rufflely things on the bottom of the bodice though because it would make my hips look too big-------------I'd need to put a "WIDE LOAD" sign across my a** and that would take away from the outfit, don'tcha think?:bs

Clancy

Ok here is my dress from the polonaise pattern. I was one of my first attempts at Victorian clothing.. so excuse the quality... plus it was before the discovery of TV patterns. For some reason i thought it was more pink it is actually a pale moss green with pink trim...Please excuse that i didnt iron the dress before i took the pictures, it has been in a dress bag in my wardrobe..

Clancy, I don't believe I'd ever seen that pattern made up. Thanks so much for posting your pictures....the dress is beautiful.

how pretty...I have not wanted to try that one because I had some rather serious issues with other BB patterns...Thats really lovely! Did you find the pattern easy to work with? I think it looks very American western movie! I can think of a couple of ladies who are making silver screen dresses for EOT that might really like that!

Clancy
03-09-2006, 04:42 AM
Gyps, it is a typical BB pattern... I did not enjoy making it.. Like i said it was before i really discovered TV patterns..
