Not a class, just a tip. I can't remember where I first read about this helper for topstitching corners, but of course, I've topstitched lots of things since I read it, and forgot to do it. So when I topstitched collar points and the corners of cuffs, I got out to those points (which usually had extra thicknesses of fabric in them), turned the corner on my topstitching...and found there wasn't enough fabric between the presser foot and the feed dogs to get the fabric moving forward, and no fabric behind the presser foot to pull on to help the feed dogs out.

This time, I remembered the tip. I threaded a needle with buttonhole thread, and took one stitch through each collar point, and each corner of the cuffs. I knotted the thread and left a long tail, about three inches. Then, when I got to the corner, I could grab the thread tail and pull the fabric to get it started under the presser foot for the first few stitches. Worked great!

Wish I'd had that tip when I was sewing all those western shirts for Nellie in years gone by. Great Idea!!! Nellie's Mom
