with 8 yards of brown and white cow print fabric :re
it isn't cotton it's fabric kinda like kids pajamas, I can't decide quite what to make.
Our state match is coming up next month and I am thinking about a bolero jacket with either a split skirt or just a skirt. I have cow pants with fringe already and wanted a little something different.
Any ideas????????
B Western is what I believe I will shoot, gunfighter style!

How about a simple skirt and vest or split skirt.....

I am thinking split skirt, it will be cool by then so I won't get too hot.

Sounds like the perfect opportunity for some mix and match pieces. I think a short little bolero style vest all fringed up would match the pants or skirt or split skirt.
Or make a B Western style blouse and make the yoke out of the cowprint fabric.

Yeah, split skirt and a vest of some sort. Sounds cute!

I would highly recommend the Laughing Moon split skirt & vest. I have 2 & LOVE them. We just had our state shoot last weekend & that is what I wore both days. Great for shooting in! I have at least 4 more planned!

I have that LM pattern! my other b western outfit is a split skirt and a fun western print shirt with lots of fringe!!! I am almost finished with it.
I think I will do the bolero and split skirt then! I will have to find some white fabric for my scarf! what else besides white fringe could I use? I have used quite a bit on my other shirt :) How about those fun little balls???? that is more spanish looking tho.

I always like a little color with black & white. How about turquoise, pink, or red?
Let me see if I can post some pictures of my 2 split skirt outfits from this past weekend.

Thank Allie Mo!!! I wish I had a picture of the back of the vest. It has the same design as the front panel.(psst by the way it is corduroy & oh so comfy!)
I now know how Clancy feels! I have a love/hate for soutache!!! I actually have a great brushed twill in plum that is just begging to be a split skirt outfit! I just need to figure out a design for the soutache & find out if I can dye it. I have like 300 yards of it but it’s white & I need a tan. I have a great faux suede scalloped eyelet that with look great with the plum!

Pink looks good with pret near everything. I've seen is with brown and white cow print and it looks pretty good...'course, I like pink too much anyways...
(gee, it's hard to type with hot pink finger nail polish drying on your nails :) )
Anyways, pink would probably look really good with the material you described.

Pink looks good with brown too! I like the idea of a nice contrast & I bet you will be able to find some pink fringe pretty easily. (or the baalls you mentioned before).

Lily....the green costume is very pretty it looks great, so does the pink one....not sure if i would ever be that game to wear pink... I also love th LM split skirt, but i always make the one without the button on front. I prefer the free movement when i shoot.
Yes soutahce is addictive, you either torture yourself with more or you give up....
Angel...i dont think you can go past brown and white with turquoise....i think it always looks good..

Beautiful outfits. I recently cut out the LM split skirt pattern but that is as far as I've gotten. I think I am going to make a plain black cotton one without the front panel to start off with. I don't want to mess up any more expensive fabric before I see if the pattern is one this pattern impaired person can easily follow. lol

All good ideas!!! BUT guess what I did??? I was digging through my scraps last night and found some of the pink fabric with the cowgirls on it, I only needed enough to make 2 sleeves, I laid the pattern on and holy cow it was JUST enough :18 SO, I can now make that shirt to go with the brown skirt I have already made and save the cow print for a duster or something just as fun!! Someone suggested using it as a yoke for another shirt, I might just make a whole out fit with it :)
I wanted soooo bad to make that pink shirt, I probably will just use piping on it as my other B western shirt has more than enough fringe, and the skirt I am wearing w/the pink shirt has fringe!!!
Well, you know it is a 3 day shoot! I will probably need another outfit, I am glad I am in the sewing mood
turquoise???? now to find fringe that color. ebay here I come
