This is so bizarre! I had never heard of a cat breed called Ragdoll now I've seen 2 in just a few months! They look like very cool cats! :)

There is nothing like a Ragdoll cat! Think dog wrapped up in a cat body. He is the most laid back cat I have ever seen. Loves to be spanked and have his tummy rubbed, and tail pulled. He doesn't play much, but when he does he gets distracted so it doesn't last long. He loves to attack the dogs, and give them baths.

You all have such beautiful pets!
My heart really belongs to cats. Two of mine, Obie and Gee, are former feral cats that were neutered, had their ears clipped, and released. All were stray adults when I took them in. I've only had one cat in the last 30 years that I selected from a litter and he was the least endearing of them all.
Shawn, that Ragdoll is beautiful as is Oreo. Nellie, thanks for posting the link. I had never heard of the breed either. L-Buck, of course you know it's sexy when a man is a cat person! :w2

I agree! There is nothing quite like a man who likes cats!
If any of you looked at the link Nellie posted you will notice the cats all had white legs, my Hunter was a mis-mark and has brown "chaps" on his front legs, I love his flaw!
Beautiful Aussie Livermush, Whew, good thing I'm married, a man who loves cats and has an Aussie! I need a little sister to introduce you to.

Intelligent stinker, he knows how to open doors and gates if you don't keep them locked. Protector of the little children and Momma. Likes to scare the crap out of the postal carriers. :w2
CJ picked me before Lumpy did. He kept getting out like Houdini and :go coming to my house to play with the kids. That's how Lumpy and I really met.

Here is Belle Starr Goldvein, SASS # 49988 shaking hands with one of her many friends at the range. She is an extremely spoiled member of our family and has no clue she is a dog. SHH... She has her own wardrobe of scarves that she chooses from, her current favorite is a red one. The one she is wearing is an embroidered scarf that matched the shirts we had on that day. If we load the guns and she doesn't get to go she pouts for days.

Diamond Deb, Ralph looks a little demanding. He's marked an awful lot like our Mittens, who we don't have a pic of at the moment. Susie( also known as the cat lady) rescued Mittens from an unfortunate situation and has been Mommy's kitten ever since. She goes outside when Mittens is awake and she'll sit at the door or window and yowl until Susie comes back in. It sounds an awful lot like Moooooooom, mom. Mittens is also known as our wild cat, she's a real character..........Buck :cgun :re :lool

Howdy PB,
Mickey looks like my Chanur. Does he have a bit of orange in his tummy fur?
Milo looks like my cousin when he was a kid. (Most narrow-faced, orage tabbies remind me of him. Especially kittens.)

[QUOTE=Kitty Phann]Welcome to the alley, Iron Ed. When I saw Chanur I thought it was mine. They have similar markings and I rescued her too.
Thankee kindly, Ma'am.
Chanur and C.Morgan are brother barn cats I rescued from a farm in Kentucky. Owner said they likely wouldn't live more than a couple of weeks there. He didn't even know he had kittens around. Vet said they were likely about 3 weeks old when I got them. Fed them goats' milk from a bottle for the first couple of weeks I had 'em.

I had to jump in and add my favorite picture of Oscar the Watch Cat. When I was pregnant with Rachael, he would follow me around just waiting for me to sit down so he could get up close to my belly. The day we brought her home from the hospital we put her on a blanket on the floor. Oscar sniffed her over and then laid down next to her. He was obviously a proud Papa. We are lucky he chose to let us live with him.

Brother sent me this. He's the family cat owner . . .
How to Give a Cat a pill:
1. Pick up cat and cradle it in the crook of your left arm as if
holding a baby. Position right forefinger and thumb on either side
of cat's mouth and gently apply pressure to cheeks while holding
pill
in right hand. As cat opens mouth, pop pill into mouth. Allow cat to
close mouth and swallow.
2. Retrieve pill from floor and cat from behind sofa. Cradle cat
in
left arm and repeat process.
3. Retrieve cat from bedroom, and throw soggy pill away.
4. Take new pill from foil wrap, cradle cat in left arm, holding
rear paws tightly with left hand Force jaws open and push pill to
back of mouth with right forefinger. Hold mouth shut for a count of
ten.
5. Retrieve pill from goldfish bowl and cat from top of
wardrobe.
Call spouse from garden.
6. Kneel on floor with cat wedged firmly between knees, hold
front
and rear paws. Ignore low growls emitted by cat. Get spouse to hold
head firmly with one hand while forcing wooden ruler into mouth.
Drop
pill down ruler and rub cat's throat vigorously.
7. Retrieve cat from curtain rail, get another pill from foil
wrap.
Make note to buy new ruler and repair curtains. Carefully sweep
shattered figurines and vases from hearth and set to one side for
gluing later.
8. Wrap cat in large towel and get spouse to lie on cat with
head
just visible from below armpit. Put pill in end of drinking straw,
force mouth open with pencil and blow down drinking straw.
9. Check label to make sure pill not harmful to humans, drink 1
beer
to take taste away. Apply Band-Aid to spouse's forearm and remove
blood from carpet with cold water and soap.
10. Retrieve cat from neighbor's shed. Get another pill. Open
another beer. Place cat in cupboard, and close door on to neck, to
leave head showing. Force mouth open with dessert spoon. Flick pill
down throat with elastic band.
11. Fetch screwdriver from garage and put cupboard door back on
hinges. Drink beer. Fetch bottle of scotch. Pour shot, drink. Apply
cold compress to cheek and check records for date of last tetanus
shot.
Apply whiskey compress to cheek to disinfect. Toss back another
shot. Throw Tee shirt away and fetch new one from bedroom.
12. Call fire department to retrieve the cat from across the
road. Apologize to neighbor who crashed into fence while swerving
to avoid cat. Take last pill from foil wrap.
13. Tie the little stinkers front paws to rear paws with garden
twine and bind tightly to leg of dining table, find heavy-duty
pruning gloves from shed. Push pill into mouth followed by large
piece of filet steak. Be rough about it. Hold head vertically and
pour 2
pints of water down throat to wash pill down.
14. Consume remainder of scotch. Get spouse to drive you to the
emergency room, sit quietly while doctor stitches fingers and
forearm and removes pill remnants from right eye. Call furniture
shop on way home to order new table.
15. Arrange for SPCA to collect mutant cat from hell and call
local
pet shop to see if they have any hamsters.
How To Give A Dog A Pill:
1. Wrap it in bacon.
2. Toss it in the air.

This is the latest addition to our family. My girls don't know Mister belongs to them yet. Although they've been grooming on him and lvoing him and being led around on him, they think Mister belongs to our local horse trainer, Sharon.
I just took this picture yesterday and will print it out and hang it on the Christmas tree Christmas morning.:tban Mister is a 11.1 hand strawberry roan Welsh/Paint cross. He is 8 yrs old and although a bit spookier than I'd like, he's a good boy. I can't wait until my girls know he's theirs.

The girls were soooo very excited to find out that Mister was their very own pony. I printed a picture of him with bows and ribbons in his mane then wrote on it... Hi, My name is Mister and I am yours. Gillian, my 8 yr old read it, looked at me then read it again just to be sure before she got the idea. I'm posting a picture of her when she finally realized what the picture and note meant. Her lil sister, Dakota was tearing into the box witht he saddle in it at the time. lol
We went down today and spent nearly 5 hours with Mister and Suzy. Mister was a gentleman with the girls all being led around on him and his new saddle fit fine.

Very calm dog and a VERY large stocking. I had to zoom in on the picture a bit and it took out alot. The original has the entire fireplace behind it and all of our stockings hanging up.
Tilly really likes to talk alot...I guess she is a normal girl in THAT respect.

Her coat seems rather smooth for a husky/samoed? They are not large dogs about knee high or so, they can get heavy if overfed into adulthood.(hubbie from AK...people with likings for silly fuzzy/wolfish doddgies)

We did have shitzu named snickers He was a jumper and muddy all of the time. Who hated sleeping any where but cold concrete all year( we gave him a very warm plush bed in a house) and pooed on my daughter on the way home from my hubbys aunts house 1 hour away. I have a friend who said she had a pair of...some kind of larger rodent...that her mom (a veteranarian!!) Well he said if any thing happens seperate them if they cannot get along... And he left to go shopping.
Well the little brown one was trying to give our celestine holly he**... Well his buns got sent back to petco so fast as celestine bit him up all over. especially in his armpit!

I would like to post a remembrance to my Dalmation, Sir Osage Jacob Luetkemeyer, called Jake. Born august 2nd, 1991, we put him down this last saturday, the 11th. He'd stopped eating, very arthritic, rapidly losing weight.
One of those dogs who always seemed to wear a laughing expression, calm, intelligent, yet ever playful. Loved to run, caught any number of squirrels under his own catch and release program. A month ago he proudly tottered up to me, depositing a box turtle at my feet, the only thing he could still catch.
Farewell. May you warm the feet of angels, and gambol cross heavens fields.

There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

She is blessed to have been chosen to attend the Music Academy of the West (http://www.musicacademy.org/) this summer. In a couple of weeks she will be auditioning in Boston at the Boston Academy of Opera. The Lord has blessed her with a beautiful and powerful voice.

She got married almost 3 years ago to a very supportive loving husband. They don't have kids yet, so now is the time to pursue her dream. Not to say you can't fulfill your dream after kids, it just takes more creativity and adjustments.

Goldie, I am very proud of her because she almost let her dream go. She flunked out of college twice. I told her if she wanted to go to school she would have to pay for it herself. She worked for a year at a job she hated and put herself back through a semester and proved to us she was NOW serious. We put her through the rest of college but told her if she wanted to pursue grad school that she would have to do that on her own.... and she did. She paid for auditioning at different schools etc. and was able to go to ASU with a teaching job & stipen (sp?). I am very proud and happy that she is able to do what she loves. Life is toooo short and precious to be stuck doing something you don't at least like to do.

I called Animal Control and told them that someone needed to get them out of downtown before they got hurt or caused a wreck.

Short Story......1996 hunting elk in the Mountains above the Crystal River Valley, Shown here from the live web cab:http://webcam.sopris.net/ in the trees in the foreground. We called in some elk, hoping to get a big bull in. Instead me and my partner got seperated and I sat down in the bottom of a draw and decided to eat lunch. PBJ, of course. When the elk stampeded right towards me. A cow with her calf game with three feet of me and I froze she starred at me, and didnt flinch. I was wearing scent so I didn't smell like human, but the PBJ was of interest to her and her calf. Finally the stare down wore off, and I offered the elk my sandwhich. All Hell broke loose, she took off with calf in tow and nearly stampeded by partner, whose only remark was....."YOU DON'T EAT ANYMORE ON HUNTING TRIPS!" Wish I had a camera instead of the sandwhich, because I don't know who had the most surprised look, me, the elk or my partner! :lool

Oh Sopris, you brought back three fantastic memories. One was hunting.
I went up on the mountain one morning by myself. It was pouring when I got to my stand area so I decided to 'camp out' under a large Douglas Fir and therefore, keep a bit drier.
This fir was about 5 feet up hill from the deer trail I was watching. It was pitch black and I heard some deer coming down the trail. I sat there dead still.
It became apparent that these deer were not on the trail but walking 5 FEET UPHILL OF THAT TRAIL. In other words, straight to me.
The main thought that came to mind was how these deer were going to act when they saw that the spot they wanted to occupy was already taken.
The first deer, a doe, came within about 3 feet of me and stopped dead. She looked at me, I looked at her, and we were frozen in time for about 30 seconds. Then she reacted.
If this were a cartoon, her head would have gone back through her shoulders and out her backside, so to speak. She whirled around so fast that the other deer had no clue she was headed back at them at top speed. She hit the deer behind her so hard that she knocked it off it's feet. They were entangled, rolling down the hill while trying to get up and run at the same time.
I knew there were at least two more deer behind the two that were entangled because they bolted around above me and stopped stomping and snorting and raising a ruckus.
When the two downed does finally got up, they also took off about 50 yards, stopped and stomped and snorted for at least 10 minutes.
I did not see a deer for the rest of the day in that area. I'm guessing all that fuss they raised alerted every deer within a mile!

Story #2...
In the summer, we kept our horses in the lower pasture. It had a stream running through it and it was always cooler than our upper pasture.
I'd go down every evening to grain her and give her a quick brushout. She loved to run down to the stream area and 'hide' in the high underbrush, wait till I walked by and jump out.
This one evening, as I was walking down towards the stream area, I heard something crashing behind me. I thought it was the horse and quick hid in the high brush on the side of the trail, thinking to turn the tide on her for a change.
As I stood there, a buck emerged in the trail. He stopped within arm's reach of me. I waited and he began to pick at the brush and browse. For whatever reason, he did not realize I was there.
I reached out and touched his rump.
Did you know that a deer can jump rather high STRAIGHT up? After his hooves hit the ground, he flew up the trail. Now....remember the horse?
They met...
Horse and deer stood there a second while the buck danced back and forth as if saying, "Come on!!!! We gotta get out of here NOW."
Finally the buck went through the brush and was gone. I was sitting on the ground laughing. The horse walked up to me and nuzzled me seeming to say, "Ok, kid, you had your fun, where's the grain?"

Miz Fannie, We get the same type of views from my sis-in-laws bedroom window. The deer come down and raid her bird feeders. When they're on our side of the fence, she could open her window and touch them. We also get raccoons and squirrel, an occassional possum and bunnies. We quit calling them bird feeders, they're now deer feeders. The birds are lucky to get any at all. She's woke up to find a deer looking at her in the window..........Buck:sailor :ss

I depend on these two furry fourleggers to let me know if there is danger, we live right on the border and have on the average several hundreds of boarder crossers a night on my wash and dirt road to the ranch. Without the dogs it would be very scarey.

There is no psychiatrist in the world like a puppy licking your face.
There really is nothing better than the love of a dog!! I have often said, if I could find a man that loved me like my dog does, I would be a very happy lady!!! :wallaby

Shasta is a beautiful dog, love her coloring. What a great experience to work on such a special display at the Roy Rogers Museum; I remember the one they had in Apple Valley. How did you get so lucky to go to Branson and work on the display?
Sarah B.
I have lived in Apple Valley all of my - well most of my life - since I was 14.. It was a small town then. It afforded the opportunity to come to know some of the Rogers family.. When they moved, I assisted on the last day at the museum in Victorville, and when it came time for the grand opening in Branson, I was able to go a few days ahead and help. I have been 3 times and plan another trip sometime this year. They are a great family and it is an honor to assist them whenever the opportunity arises..
Thank you Sarah for your compliments about my Shasta Baby.. She is an incredible girl, who is full of enery and loads of love. She is a blessing to me..

Thanks Ponderosa,
I'm and old hand, 40 years in the saddle riding and training horses. I started out in dressage, at age five. Thank goodness, cause it has saved me lots. Did 25 years of endurance riding too, and just recently retired from that to do reenactment in Tombstone. My horses, dogs and cats are my family now, the kids are gone to college. AND I have a fantastic husband who loves reenactment. :wallaby

While reading my emails in the mornings, I always open the blinds of the windows beside my computer desk. This morning, I looked over and this is what was greeting me this morning. Please understand that I couldn't move much, I didn't want to scare them....and these photos were taken thru the window and the screen. There were 6 little visitors this morning.

What a delight Fannie! I remember a couple of years ago I was sitting at our front reception counter and looked out our large window and there were 6 deer standing in the front yard. I was shocked because it was in the middle of the day! We don't see too many deer anymore due to the advanced civilization in our area.... subdivions.... homes.... people! We use to have deer, coyotes, foxes, racoons and an occassion a wild boar or two. Now, just squirrels. :(
Oh well.... that progress.

Ok, after all the beautiful dog pictures i thought i would post this... This is my old dog (now deceased) Her name was Hooch and she was my baby before i had my son. She is a rottweiler cross shepherd and she was the most placest of dogs.
As you can see she loved water, she was always in it, so bath times were never a problem... This a favourite pic i dug out to share of Hooch and Jordy sharing the pool together...

With Bulls Head being gone all week, his time at home is precious to everyone. Can Can Dolly is no exception. She really misses her Daddy Dawg, and when he is home on Saturday mornings, enjoying his coffe she is always in his lap. This morning, she decided she needed a little more snuggling and security. She nuzzled her way right under his house coat and curled up, with her head on his chest. Of course, as soon as I took the picture, she decided to be a ham! LOL!! Isn't this the sweetest picture?

They're SOOO cute when they're little, why do they have to get big? (and big is relative in this case!)
I'm not sure that's an actual weiner dog (I just realized I can't spell dachsund, dachshund... whatever,
too lazy to look it up) on the bun. Never saw one that tiny. or I should say young... :) Jady

Jady, when they're born, they about the size of a large mouse or gerbil. Used to raise them, when you get a bunch together it's not a pack, it's a GANG!
That's definately a dachsy. Ours is close to 20lbs. at her winter weight and is considered a miniature/standard( kinda the midsize model) Buck

Her name is "Dusty" and she is a Shih Tzu x Bichon. As you can see from the scales she is only 2.2lbs (1kg). She is 7 weeks old. She has my son and husband wrapped around her finger,,

Some of us love to travel with our pets. Did you ever wonder what our escapades look like through their eyes? There are three things we usually consider on the road: where we will eat, where we will sleep, and of course, where we will seek relief.
This is our trip to Idaho several years ago through the eyes of Florie, a guide dog puppy in training. Sweet Violet, be sure to take notes! You will see a number of places from home!
One of our stops was at the Trangle T restaurant. It is definitey Idaho at it's finest. The food was good and very reasonably priced. During the course of our repast, the ladies just had to make a visit to the 'powder room'.
DogWoman
04-11-2006, 02:41 PM
But wait! There's more! Let me use Florie's words. They say it the best.
"Along the way we hit this rest area in Malad. Mom said she had to see Evel Knievel's jump site over the Snake River Canyon. She didn't fool me, she HAD to see this bathroom. Notice the tile floors? I was still too little to test the blue water. "
DogWoman
04-11-2006, 02:42 PM
"These nice people left the lights on for us at Motel 6. Nice shower eh? Mom prefers glass doors but I can get in with her with the shower curtain! "
DogWoman
04-11-2006, 02:44 PM
"My all time favorite had to be these. Mom wasn't too sure about them fitting in our house but wouldn't you love these in your place?"
DogWoman
04-11-2006, 02:45 PM
"You know how us pups have to go 'au fresco'? Why not people?"
DogWoman
04-11-2006, 02:46 PM
"I just had to find out if this one worked. Looks like a good one for our place! Just a little lower and this porcelain water bow will be perfect."
DogWoman
04-11-2006, 02:48 PM
So you go to your local rest area and a bus lets out a group of youth. What did our pioneers do???
No waiting. Two holes.
DogWoman
04-11-2006, 03:01 PM
So much for Florie's bathroom tour of Idaho. I'll bet you'll never look at travelling with your pet the same way again.
Stay tuned. Hop(less)a will be travelling in May to Goblin Valley and Temple Mountain, Utah.
